Topic: Computer Forensics - Advanced Tips and Tricks

Mark Johnson is currently working for the United States Attorney's Office, for the Western District of Missouri. He is assigned to the Heart of America Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory as a forensic examiner. Mr. Johnson has over 25 years experience with computer hardware and software and has been performing computer forensic analysis since 2000.

Mr. Johnson was a police officer and sergeant with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, where he held positions in the Tactical Response Team, Street Narcotics Unit and Crime Scene Investigations, among others. In 2000 he established the Computer Crimes Section for his department. Since then he has been an instructor for Guidance Software, the makers of EnCase, and he was also the National Director of Computer Forensics for Grant Thornton, an international accounting firm.

Mr. Johnson has conducted over 300 forensic exams in criminal and civil cases and has provided expert testimony in a number of high profile cases. Most notably he worked on the Bobbie Jo Stinnett and BTK murder cases. He was recently interviewed as part of the television show "Forensics: You Decide", a Discovery Channel program. He continues to teach computer forensic techniques to local, state and federal law enforcement professionals around the country and maintains a large caseload.
